About this Look:

This look’s impetus was taking my favorite Ukrainian designer (Anna October) and styling one of her beautiful pieces.  What better than a yellow dress, at this time?  This dress features the old school bustier top that she is known for and works so well on a slip dress (a big trend in terms of current silhouettes).  I added some ethereal touches with the accessories and a strong pop on the lip in a deep raspberry red.

A Special Note:

As we all send our highest hopes to the Ukraine, amidst such a tragic time, I wanted to draw some positive attention to Anna October, a designer I have had my eye on for quite a while now.

Anna is a designer based in Odessa, Ukraine.  Her feminine and versatile designs are made using old local techniques.  I especially love her old school bustier tops on both her slip dresses (visible above) and crop tops.  Her collection has been produced in select Ukrainian factories where they use deadstock (industry-speak for material that would otherwise be waste from over production or leftover runs) and ethical manufacturing standards.

While Anna has halted shipments due to the current crisis in Ukraine, it’d be amazing to support her, her business and Ukrainian design itself via a retailer carrying her product.  So, for your next event, go with Anna October.
